THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:A section of Youth Congress leaders has come out in support of KPCC president V.M. Sudheeran saying that those who were singling him out in connection with the abkari policy were doing it at the behest of the liquor lobby.
Youth Congress vice-president C.R. Mahesh told DC that the manner in which deliberations of the Youth Congress were selectively leaked out to the media on Friday clearly hinted at a big conspiracy to derail the abkari policy.
“The liquor policy was unanimously decided and implemented by the UDF. But a section of leaders at the behest of their group masters, was trying to show Sudheeran in a bad light. They were acting like group managers within the organisation and planting stories,’’ he said and added that strict action should be initiated against such leaders.
He said the KPCC leadership should look into the circumstances under which such reports were coming out in the media and also locate the source of such information. “We will not allow anyone to derail the liquor policy. There will be sustained campaigns to ensure that phased prohibition policy is implemented in letter and spirit,” he added.
