Police subject Karthik Gowda to 10 hour interrogation for second consecutive day

Karthik denied that he had married Mythriya in Mangalore in a private ceremony

Bengaluru: Karthik Gowda, son of Railway Minister Sadananda Gowda, underwent a gruelling 10-hour interrogation session by the police for the second consecutive day on Saturday.

Karthik is an accused in a rape and cheating case filed by Kannada actress Mythriya Gowda.

On Friday, Karthik, who presented himself before the police for the first time after getting anticipatory bail, was grilled for nearly eight hours by investigating officer, ACP Omkaraiah, and DCP (North Division) T.R. Suresh.

"We had to clarify a lot of things from Karthik and it was the discretion of the investigating officer to question him thoroughly," said Additional Commissioner of Police (law and order) Alok Kumar.

Post-noon, Mr Alok Kumar too paid a visit to the Assistant Commissioner of Police's office in R.T. Nagar where Karthik was being grilled.

Mr Suresh said, "We are gathering information about the complaint. Karthik was cooperative and answered the questions. If need be, we will summon him again."

On Friday, Karthik denied that he had married Mythriya in Mangalore in a private ceremony as claimed by her. He had said that they met each other through a common friend and had met and spoke over phone a couple of times. Karthik had claimed that it was a political conspiracy to tarnish his and his father's image.

Though the interrogation session was long, Karthik answered the question patiently, police sources said. He was allowed to go home in the evening.

"He will not be called on Sunday. The Civil and Sessions Court, which granted him bail, has ordered that the accused has to appear before the investigating officer on the 15th and 30th of every month till the investigations are over," said a senior police officer.
