New toll plaza at Bhiknoor on NHAI 44

The NHAI officials usually set up toll plazas at a distance of 60 km

NIZAMABAD: A new toll plaza will come up at Bhiknoor on NH-44 in Nizamabad district.

The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) officials sent proposals in this regard.

At present, there is a toll plaza at Indalwai on NH-44 in Nizamabad district and the next plaza is at Toopran in Medak district. On the borders of Adilabad and Nizamabad districts, there is another toll plaza at Ganjal.

After widening the highway into four lanes, the NHAI set up toll plazas to collect tax from those commuting through the route.

The widening of the highway reduced the travelling time from 4 hours to 3 hours from Nizamabad to Hyderabad. Reportedly, the mileage of vehicles has also improved due to the good road connectivity.

The NHAI officials usually set up toll plazas at a distance of 60 km.

According to the NHAI personnel, toll plazas would be set up based on the infrastructure provided during widening of highway. “Distance is not the only criterion in setting up toll plazas. It also depends on other factors like investment into the works. So, toll plazas need not mandatorily be set up at a distance of 60 km of each other,” one of the NHAI personnel said.
