Subramanian Swamy ordered to appear before Court

TN CM has registered a defamation case against him

Chennai: Principal sessions court, Chennai, has summoned BJP leader Dr Subramanian Swamy to appear before it on October 30 in connection with defamation cases registered against him by the Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa for his remarks against her.

The principal session court judge N. Authinathan has also directed editor and publishers of a Tamil daily Dinamalar and an English daily Times of India on the same day for publishing the news item in the dailies on September 4.

On Monday, on behalf of Jayalalithaa, the city public prosecutor M.L. Jegan filed the defamation case against Swamy and editor and publisher of Dinamalar in the court.

Next day, he filed another defamation case against Swamy and editor and publisher (Chennai) of Times of India. Jegan stated that Swamy in his letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, made certain remarks in connection with the boats seized by the personnel of Sri Lankan navy in the high seas.

Swamy also made serious allegations against the Chief Minister. The derogatory remarks were published in these dailies on September 4. When the petitions came up for hearing before the court on Wednesday, the principal sessions court judge directed Subramanian Swamy to appear before the court on October 30 over the libel suit.
