Raja Marga spruced up for Dasara

Work on to recreate lost splendour of Mysore
Mysore: With the spectacular Mysore Dasara celebrations barely a fortnight away, work on recreating the majesty of a bygone era on the Raja Marga from the Mysore Palace to Bannimantap for the Jumbo Savari is on in full swing.
The idea is to line the route with artistically designed granite barricades, designer lamp posts and footpaths covered with cement tiles of international standards
The project , which has overshot its deadline by two years already, will be 70 per cent complete soon, claim local authorities.
While one component of the project focuses on the Jumbo Savari route, the other concentrates on the area around the Mysore Palace.
While the route of the Dasara procession is being given a facelift at a cost of Rs 18.65 crores from Hardinge circle via Chamaraja circle and KR circle to the Ayurvedic College circle , the work around the Mysore Palace is being carried out at a cost of Rs 18.7 crores under JNNURM.
