Citizens wait for Telugu Desam to keep word

The youth, particularly the unemployed, were promised financial assistance and jobs

Vijayawada: Even as the TD government is promising development of schemes and projects, citizens seem disappointed that most of the promises the party has made have not been fulfilled. Soon after coming to power, the TD came up with five promises, to solve problems of farmers, employees and pensioners and do away with belt shops besides supplying drinking water to all. While not one of these five promises have been fulfilled, other promises made during campaigning are not even being taken into consideration so far. The youth, particularly the unemployed, were promised financial assistance and jobs. Nothing has been done in this direction, to the extent that not even the DSC notification has been issued.

HRD minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao had promised this would be done on September 5. “There are plenty of promises made by the CM both during electioneering and as well as in the state Assembly recently. However, there is no change in Vijayawada and the problems continue, be it traffic-related or supply of drinking water,” said Barige Rajesh, a private employee. The slogan ‘Babu coming to give job’ did not take off as the government failed to take the initiative and create job opportunities, he said.

However, some are still upbeat, confident that the CM will keep his promises in the near future. “The initiative to give maximum subsidies to women entrepreneurs is a step in the right direction, said Yasaswini Peddi, a budding entrepreneur. “The trust we have reposed in Mr Naidu will not go in vain. We need to wait a little bit for good things to happen,” she said.
