Karimnagar to be split into 3 districts

Currently, the district has 13 Assembly and two Parliament constituencies

Hyderabad: In order to ensure overall development of each district in Telangana state and to take the administration closer to the people, the government is mulling to carve out two more districts out of Karimnagar district.

As per the tentative proposals, Jagtial and Ramagun-dam will be made districts, apart from existing Karimnagar district.

During his maiden visit to Gajwel constituency on June 4 after assuming charge as Chief Minister, K. Chandra-sekhar Rao said the state would soon have 24 districts and his government would strive for overall development of each district.

Currently, the district has 13 Assembly and two Parliament constituencies. The Assembly constituencies are Karimnagar, Manakon-dur, Sircilla, Vemulawada, Choppadandi, Husnabad, Huzurabad, Korutla, Jagtial, Peddapalli, Manthani, Ram-agundam and Dharmapuri.

Of the two parliamentary constituencies of Karimna-gar and Peddapalli, the former comprises Karimnagar, Manakondur, Sircilla, Vemulawada, Choppadandi, Husnabad, Huzurabad.

Peddapalli, Manthani, Ram-agundam and Dharmapuri constituencies are part of Peddapalli Parliament segment. The remaining Korutla and Jagtial constituencies fall under Nizamabad Parli-ament constituency for better administration. However, these Parliament constituencies are likely to be reorganised in the near future.

Sources said the new Karimnagar Parliament constituency would likely to have four Assembly constituencies of Karimnagar, Peddapalli, Choppadandi and Huzurabad.

Similarly, Jagtial Parlia-ment constituency will consist of Jagtial, Korutal, Vemulawada, Husnabad and Assembly segments. Both Si-rcilla and Manakondur will be transferred to Siddipet Assembly constituency.

Meanwhile, before leaving for New Delhi on September 6, the Chief Minister Rao is learned to have discussed with authorities over feasibility of making Rama-gundam as a Parliament consti-tuency by including Ramag-undam, Manthani, Dharm-apuri and Peddapalli Asse-mbly constituencies, considering sources and industrial development in Ramagundam.
