KMRL erects modern signage as part of CRS initiative

The Metro agency is planning to put up 350 sign boards in unique blue background designs at various places in the city

Kochi: The Kochi Metro Rail Limited (KMRL) has started erecting retro reflective modern signage based on the standards of the Indian Road Congress. The sign boards have been erected
as part of KMRL’s corporate social responsibility initiatives.
The Metro agency is planning to put up 350 sign boards in unique blue background designs at various places in the city of which 40 boards have already been erected along the Thevara- Jose Junction, Park Avenue Road, Foreshore Road, Salim Rajan Road, High Court- Goshree Road and Shanmugham Road.
Apart from direction signs, informative boards like pedestrian crossings, school and hospital zones will also be erected. The proper signage system will be useful for those who are new to the city and have no idea of alternate roads. The move will be a great relief during the traffic diversion due to the Metro Rail works as even city residents are unaware of easy and alternate routes.
“The new sign boards will be useful for pedestrians and motorists as well. Since the existing boards are not sufficient, new ones have to be erected and those in a bad shape have also to be replaced,” said sources at KMRL.
