Property registrations double in capital zone

Capital announcement has led to a boom in the real estate sector

Vijayawada: Right from the time the state was bifurcated, Vijayawada and its vicinity were always in the race for the capital city.

This led to a boom in the real estate sector. This fetched the Krishna district registrations and stamps department handsome revenue, as compared to the corresponding period in the previous year.

A senior official in the deputy inspector general office of registrations and stamps department said that the revenue generated through registrations in Krishna district crossed Rs 245 crore by August in financial year 2014-15.

It was just Rs 133 crore in financial year 2013-14, an increase of 90 per cent.

Post bifurcation, Krishna district achieved more than the revenue target set by the state government, collecting Rs 176.58 crore in June-August, 2014. Also, the number of registrations in financial 2014-15 has doubled, when compared to last year.

An interesting fact is that every year, the number of registrations in July witness a sudden rise. This is due to speculation that the government may revise registration charges upward from August 1.
