Telangana gets two solar power plants

Centre assured a 1,000 MW solar power plant and a 4,000 MW plant
New Delhi: The Union government on Saturday announced setting up of a 1,000 MW solar power plant in Mahbubnagar, while it also assured approval of a 4,000 MW power plant by NTPC in Ramagundam which was a promise made in the AP Reorganisation Act, 2014.
Union power minister Piyush Goyal welcomed the Telangana State’s plan for solar energy as he approved the plant to come up in Mahbubnagar. Mr Goyal made the announcement after Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao met him along with a delegation on pending power projects of the state.
He also announced that the Union government would approve a 4,000 MW power plant to be built by the NTPC. The minister said the government would take all steps to help the government in the power sector.
Mr Rao also met law minister Ravishankar Prasad and demanded that Andhra Pradesh be allotted a separate high court and the existing one in Hyderabad serve as the Telangana High Court.
