Kerala RSS leader murder: Jayarajan alleges conspiracy behind probe

'The Congress and the BJP are conspiring against the party in the case'

Kannur: The CPM has alleged political conspiracy in the investigation into the murder of RSS leader E. Manoj, who was hacked to death by alleged CPM workers near Kathirur in Kannur on September 1. The probe should be impartial and just, demanded CPM Kannur district secretary P.Jayarajan on Friday.
Addressing mediapersons here, he alleged that the government was trying to politicise the investigation. He criticised the Facebook post put by his son Jain Raj soon after the death of the RSS leader and termed it inappropriate.
“The Congress and the BJP are conspiring against the party in the case. It is suspicious to invoke the provisions of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967 (UAPA) against the assailants to bring the crime under the scope of the scheduled offences listed in the National Investigation Agency. This is done based on the direction of the Chief Minister and the Home Minister,” he said. “This action cannot be justifiable as we have many instances from North India where the innocent minorities were tortured by the officials using this faulty law,” he added.
He said it was unfortunate that the BJP-RSS leaders boycotted the all-party peace meeting. “Though the district administration and other political parties except the Congress condemned the boycott, a Congress leader backed it. This shows that there is an unholy nexus against the CPM,” he added.
Regarding his son Jain Raj’s Facebook post hailing the death, Mr Jayarajan said that he had told him that it was not appropriate. The case against his son on the post would not stand, according to experts, he said.
