Mumbai: Onam, which is celebrated majorly in the state of Kerala has already started. It is a four day festival and usually the Malayalees get holiday on all four days to celebrate their festival.

It marks the beginning of the month of Chingam, the first month of Malayalam Calendar. The Sadya or the grand feast is an essential component of any traditional festival in Kerala. Below is the picture of Sadya and what all you need to do to make that leaf just perfect for your Onam meal.

The most important day of Onam is the second day. Festivities actually commence around 10 days before this day, with the preparation of floral arrangements on the ground in front of homes.

The art of laying the leaf for a meal in Onam is a task in itself, which has passed from generations to generations.
