I am not a spoilt brat, says Aditya Roy Kapur

The actor talks about his upcoming movie Daawat-e-ishq, his future project, Fitoor, his love for food, his family and more...
Mumbai: With just two weeks left for the release of Daawat-e-Ishq, Aditya Roy Kapur says that the “marathon of interviews” keep him busy. As the movie is about the celebration of love and food, he says, “Hopefully, there is enough love in our film and enough feast of love. The intention is just to entertain. We had tried to create a different world altogether.”
The movie also talks about the issue of dowry. “Taking dowry is illegal. I will never take any dowry when I get married.” He adds, “My last romantic dinner date must have been a year and a half ago. It’s been a long time… But who doesn’t enjoy such dates?”
Aditya admits to be a foodie and says, “Biryani, rajma chawal, seekh kabab, korma boti... I relish everything. I have a sweet tooth as well… But I am holding back now as I have to lose weight for my next film, Fitoor.
And I need to look physically fit in it.” Aditya also said that he will soon get busy attending workshop for Fitoor and added, “Now-a-days workshops before a shoot begins are a common trend.”
The actor would also be sharing screen space with veteran actress Rekha but he says that he hasn’t grown up watching any of her films. “I was always into English music and films. I hadn’t grown up watching Hindi films.
However, I do remember seeing Umrao Jaan and Rekha looked great in the film.” He adds, “I used to watch Bruce Lee, Mogambo and Rocky while growing up. I was mad about Karate. I got into drama much later in life.”
Aditya has a great liking for music as well, old English music. “I liked singing more than anything else. I even had a band. I have been influenced a lot by the old rock bands.”
Talking about his family Aditya says, “My mother is Jewish and father is a Punjabi. We have been brought up following all the religions. My mom would also take us to gurudwara and synagogue. My parents have handled their life very well. They have seen ups and down and surpassed them successfully. Their lives have taught me a lot.”
He adds, “Since we are Punjabis, all of us are foodies. I can boast that though I am the youngest son, I am not a spoilt brat.” Aditya feels great to have turned non alcoholic for Daawat-e ishq. “Yeah! I am not playing an alcoholic in Daawat-e-ishq. As a chef, I try to spread the warmth, love and feed a lot of people.”
