Former company secretary of Malabar Cements Ltd Saseendran committed suicide: CBI

Saseendran and his two sons Vivek and Vyas were found hanging in their house at Jawahar Nagar in Palakkad

Kochi: The Central Bureau of Investigation has concluded that V Saseendran, former company secretary of Malabar Cements Ltd, committed suicide after forcing his two minor children also to end their lives. The CBI investigation team submitted the chargesheet in connection with the case before Chief Judicial Magistrate in Kochi on Wednesday.

The probe team however found that the controversial businessman V M Radhakrishnan alias Chakku Radhakrishnan was guilty of abetting the suicide and intimidating the victims. The CBI probe team was unable to find any evidence to prove that it was not a suicide and somebody had killed them. However, a similar chargesheet filed by the probe team was rejected by the CJM last year.

The CBI chargesheet stated that Saseendran had written to the chief minister in August 2010 about malpractices in MCL involving its managing director Sundaramurthy, his secretary P Soorya Narayanan and V M Radhakrishnan, a contractor of MCL. The three then started harassing Saseendaran in a systematic manner. The probe team pointed out eight memos issued to Saseendran as evidence of the harassment.

Radhakrishnan and the other accused not only pressured Saseendran to resign his job from MCL as company secretary but also commit suicide after aiding and inducing his two children to hang themselves on January 24, 2011. According to the chargesheet, Radhakrishnan committed crimes under section 506 of IPC (criminal intimidation) and section 306 (abetting suicide) while Sundaramurthy and Soorya Narayanan were treated as approvers as they had voluntarily confessed their guilt.

According to the chargesheet, the injury marks found on the body of Saseendran were caused from the sharp edge of the ladder used by him while attempting to hang the bodies of his children.

Saseendran and his two sons Vivek and Vyas were found hanging in their house at Jawahar Nagar in Palakkad.
