Hyderabad: Chief national coach and Saina Nehwal’s mentor of 10 years Pullela Gopichand on Tuesday kept mum on his feelings about his star pupil’s decision to train under former national coach U. Vimal Kumar at the Tata Padukone Badminton Academy in Bengaluru.
News of the perceived split broke on Tuesday, and Gopichand said: “We (Saina and Gopi) have worked together 10 years. Whatever may have happened, I am not very (trails off).”
“I don’t want to comment on this issue right now. This is Sindhu’s big moment. And besides, there are only two weeks left for the Asian Games (September 19 to October 4 in Incheon, South Korea) and and the last thing you want to do is lose your focus,” Gopi said.
