Michael Clarke heads home for treatment after re-injuring hamstring

Clarke would have scans on his left hamstring to evaluate the extent of the injury

Harare: Cricket Australia says captain Michael Clarke is heading home for treatment after re-injuring his hamstring in the three-wicket loss to Zimbabwe on Sunday.

Clarke was due to arrive back in Sydney on Tuesday and would have scans on his left hamstring to evaluate the extent of the injury. Australia has a test and limited-over series against Pakistan next month.

Clarke returned for the game against Zimbabwe after missing Australia's first two matches of the ongoing triangular one-day series in Harare. He made 68 not out but aggravated his hamstring while batting.

Australia then fell to its first ODI loss to Zimbabwe in 31 years, a defeat coach Darren Lehmann called "embarrassing for everyone involved."

Without Clarke and no longer the top-ranked ODI team, Australia faces South Africa next on Tuesday.
