Tummala says he was forced to leave Desam

Former minister said that he quit TD for Khammam district’s development
Khammam: Former minister Tummala Nageswara Rao on Sunday broke down while addressing his associates and followers at Sattupalli, saying he was forced to part ways with the Telugu Desam.
Mr Nageswara Rao, who had been associated with the TD for 33 years, said that it is unfortunate that he was cornered and had to face such a situation. Mr Nageswara Rao said he took the decision to quit the TD for the sake of Khammam district’s development.
The former minister, who joined the TD in 1982 in the presence of party’s founder-president N.T. Rama Rao, contested but lost the 1983 election. However, he won in 1985 and served as minor irrigation minister. Later, he won from Sattupalli in 1994 and 1999 and served as minister for prohibition and excise, major irrigation and road and buildings.
“The decision was too painful for me, but I had no other option for the development of the district,” Mr Nageswara Rao said, expressing hope that his associates can understand the reason behind his decision. Sources said that Mr Nageswara Rao’s supporters are likely to be appointed for the nominated posts in the district after he is inducted into the state Cabinet.
