Ranga Reddy district rivers, canals overflowing due to heavy rainfall

Virasetty village in Tandur has not had power since the past two days

Hyderabad: Owing to heavy rainfall since Saturday night and through Sunday in Ranga Reddy district, various canals and rivers in the region have been overflowing affecting road connectivity.

The Kagna River near Tandur mandal on the city outskirts was overflowing on Sunday morning causing traffic to came to a standstill for about an hour. However, later, Ranga Reddy district officials roped in local police authorities to clear the traffic. “The situation is under control now,” said chief planning officer, Balram.

Virasetty village in Tandur has not had power since the past two days. In Nagargud area of Shabad mandal, the EC canal has been overflowing due to the rain blocking traffic for a kilometre.

However, the situation is under control, officials said. A similar situation arose in Peddamul mandal due to the Mansanpalli, Kandnelli canals overflowing. However, with water levels receding along the roads, normalcy was restored.
