Showers ensure 3 month supply of water for Hyderabad

Till a few days ago, the reservoirs had not received good inflows

Hyderabad: People in Hyderabad have a reason to smile as heavy rains in the last two days have resulted in good inflows to the city reservoirs.

The Water Board officials claim that the amount of downpour in last two days can ensure water supply for three months.

“The water level at Himayathsagar has gone up by four feet. Even Manjeera has received good amount of water,” said G. Rameshwar Rao, director (operation) Water Board.

Till a few days ago, the reservoirs had not received good inflows. If the situation had continued, the Water Board would have had to pump water from other sources like Jurala, and Srisailam to meet the city’s water needs.

“Usually, the rains in August and September bring in good inflows to the city’ reservoirs. We hope to get good inflows in September as well,” said Mr Rao.
