Excise minister to meet FM to remove hurdles in way of Vizhinjam International Seaport project
Thiruvananthapuram: Chief Minister Oommen Chandy and Excise Minister K.Babu will leave for New Delhi on Friday morning. The Excise Minister said their mission was to meet Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley in a bid to remove the hurdles in the way of the Vizhinjam International Seaport project. Chandy said he would come up with his comments after going through the details of the Titanium corruption case.
The two leaders will also be meeting Congress president Sonia Gandhi. The meeting is of significance in the light of the raging controversy over bars and the latest titanium corruption case in which Chandy is also allegedly involved. Apart from the two leaders, State Planning Board Vice Chairman K.M.Chandrasekhar, Port Secretary James Varghese and CEO A.S.Suresh Babu will be accompanying the ministers."Our main aim in going to Delhi is to remove the stumbling blocks that have come up in the way of Vizhinjam", said Babu. Meanwhile, AICC working committee member A.K.Antony and PCC chief V.M. Sudheeran reserved their comments on the alleged role of Chandy in the Titanium case.
