Union Minister Rajnath Sngh's son 'lightens' up Congress

JD(U) chief Sharad Yadav came in support of Rajnath Singh saying that he is spotless

New Delhi: Taking potshots at the Union government on Wednesday, the Opposition has sought to know what the allegations were against the son of Union home minister Rajnath Singh that Prime Minister Narendra Modi dismissed as “baseless”.

“The PMO had tweeted to say that rumours against Rajnath Singh’s son are plain lies. The strange thing is that as an Opposition party the Congress has not levelled any allegations against his (Rajnath’s) son. So the country and the Congress want to know. You should first tell what the allegations are,” Congress leader Ajay Maken said.

Joining the issue, CPI leader D. Raja claimed that the clarification by the PMO and the home minister were “too late and too little”. He added that such reports had been appearing in national dailies for days together. “Without any fire, there cannot be any smoke. It shows there are a lot of things. There is an internal strife. The politics is changing,” added Mr Raja.

However, JD(U) chief Sharad Yadav came out in support of Mr Rajnath Singh. He said that the Union home minister is spotless.

NCP leader D.P. Tripathi too vouched for the integrity of the home minister. “It is good that the PMO has clarified. I have known Rajnath Singh for so many years. He is not the kind of person who would even think of such a thing. Forget about doing it. Even his family members would never think of such a thing,” said Mr Tripathi. The SP also ca-me out in support of the home minister, saying there is no doubt about Mr Singh’s reputation.
