Kannada actress claims Railway Minister’s son Karthik Gowda was madly in love with her
Bangalore: Kannada actress Maithriya Gowda claimed on Thursday that she is married to Railway Minister DV Sadananda Gowda's son Karthik and asked the minister's family to accept her as their daughter-in-law.
Reportedly, Maithriya claimed that she and Karthik had wed earlier this year in an "unofficial ceremony".

Maithriya told reporters that a mutual friend introduced her to Karthik on May 8 and they immediately got involved romantically.
The actress said, "We went on several dates and he promised to marry me. He was madly in love with me.”
She further said, "We went to his Mangalore residence on June 5 and informally tied the knot with God as our witness.” However, she has no proof to validate her statement. "There is no evidence to prove this. There was no one at home except the car driver," she said.

Maithriya added, “Karthik told me he would discuss our marriage with his parents, but did not pursue it seriously. I decided to wait. But I was shocked to learn today (Wednesday) that he got engaged to a different girl.”
The actress lodged a complaint against Karthik Gowda with RT Nagar police accusing him of committing the offences of rape and cheating. The entire ‘drama’ unfolded’ on the day Karthik Gowda got engaged to another woman at a grand ceremony in the presence of his family.
