Mumbai: Indian rapper Yo Yo Honey Singh, who recently shot music videos with a number of Bollywood stars made a huge slip up at the launch of his new album ‘Desi Kalakaar’.
At a suburban venue, the ‘Desi Kalakaar’ launch was delayed for over an hour. However after coming on the stage apologies were made and accepted. Honey Singh along with Bhushan Kumar launched the video, which received a mixed response from the media fraternity.
“There could be no other singer apt for this role other than Honey Singh,” said Bhushan. He also said that Honey is a talented artist and they didn’t think twice before approaching him for this album.
Honey plays a superstar in the video and much like his previous performances this one is also larger than life.
During the event Honey Singh perhaps got a bit too excited and addressed the leading actress as ‘Mrs Sonakshi Sinha’. This happened when he was asked why Sonakshi was the first choice for this video. “Mrs. Sonakshi Sinha… (He fumbles)… Sonakshi was perfect for this role in the video. Sara siyaapa hi unke vajah se hua hai (All the madness in the video takes place just to win her heart), he said.
This erupted giggles among some sections of the crowd. Wonder what would have been the case if she was there.
When asked his take on ‘Desi Kalakar’ in the film industry he smiles and says, “Akshay Kumar, he is the ultimate ‘Desi Kalakaar’ and also Ranbir Kapoor.”
‘Desi Kalakaar’ is yet another album shot abroad by Honey Singh. The songs are catchy. Honey confesses that for the first time he went out of his conventional way of rapping and did a lot of singing for this album, with a few raps here and there. The album is presented in the form of a narrative, comprising seven stories.
The music video has a genuine Bollywood flavour, troubled lovers and a rich angry dad (Gulshan Grover) standing in between his daughter and the love of her life.
Sonakshi Sinha will be seen in a different avatar altogether. Yes, we do get a hint from the teaser.
We have seen Honey Singh’s acting skills in Expose but the singer said that he has not signed any films and is concentrating solely on his singing projects.
