Chembai award for M. K. Nateshan

Mangad K. Nateshan has been selected for the Sree Guruvayurappan Chembai Puraskaram

THRISSUR: Carnatic vocalist Mangad K. Nateshan has been selected for the Sree Guruvayurappan Chembai Puraskaram 2014, of Sree Krishna temple, Guruvayur. The award, comprising a cash prize of '50,001, a 10-gram gold locket of Sree Guruvayurappan, a citation and a ponnada, will be presented to Nateshan on the inaugural day of the Chembai Sangeetholsavam to be held at Melpathur auditorium on November 17.

The award was instituted in memory of the late Carnatic music maestro Chembai Vaidhyanatha Bhagavathar. The judging committee headed by Adv A. Sureshan and comprising musicians Pala C. K. Ramachandran and Mannoor Rajakumaran Unni selected Nateshan for the award. Devaswom chairman T.V. Chandramohan and temple thantri Chenas Narayanan Namboothiripad announced the award at a press meet at the devaswom conference hall.
