AICC general secretary Digvijay Singh suspends four Congress workers in Telangana

The workers were suspended to restore order and discipline at the workshop

Hyderabad: Stunned by a few party workers continuing to create ruckus at the TPCC workshop on Sunday, AICC general secretary Digvijay Singh ordered their suspension with immediate effect to restore normalcy.

Trouble started at the workshop organised at a private engineering college at Ibrahimpatnam near the city, when a few party workers from Nalgonda raised slogans against senior leader Uttam Kumar Reddy. They demanded that they be allowed to speak on the occasion.

This development forced AICC secretary Mr Kuntia to stop his speach. Though the leaders on the dais and on the ground rushed to the slogan shouting workers and asked them to keep quiet, the situation did not improve. At this stage, a visibly upset Mr Singh took the mike and said he cannot tolerate such a blatant indiscipline and asked TPCC president Ponnala Laksmaiah to suspend those creating scenes at the workshop.

Meanwhile, there were heated exchanges between Digvijay Singh and senior MP V. Hanumantha Rao on the dais. Mr Hanumantha Rao asked Mr Singh to allow party workers to ventilate their views at least in the inagural function to know the factual position of the party.

However, Mr Singh refused and said this was not the occasion. After this, there was exchange of words between them for sometime.
