Announcement on package to AP likely by month end

Meeting with the representatives on August 25

Visakhapatnam: Union minister of state for commerce and industry Nirmala Sitharaman on Friday said that announcement on special financial package to AP, is likely after a review meeting on August 25 of the six-member committee appointed by the Centre to look into the issue.

“The six-member committee appointed by the Centre had studied such packages in the other states and other issues. The committee is going to hold a review meeting on August 25 and the possibility of the announcement on the special package is high after that. We will also get a clarity how the package would be,” the minister told at a meeting of party workers.

She further said that, AP, was like a new born baby and its everyone’s responsibility to strive hard so that the state is developed on all strides.

She thanked TD's cooperation for nominating her from AP to the Upper House and it has increased her responsibility towards the state and its development.

She further said that she would fast track the process of Chennai-Vizag industrial corridor and assured a skill development centre under PPP in the corridor. She hoped that the proposed hardware hub at Kakinada would provide employment to locals and assured setting up of horticulture centre at Chittoor as part of Chennai, Bengaluru industrial corridor.

The minister would hold a meeting with the representatives of sea-food trade and also set foundation stone to IT tower at VSEZ in Duvvada on Saturday.
