Aqua aerobics helps burn more calories as water is more denser than air
Hyderabad: Have you ever considered including aqua aerobics into your exercise routine? Aqua workouts have emerged with new ways of fat-blasting workouts in water. Aqua aerobics and aqua zumba are great stress relievers and ensure maximum benefits and results. Even J Lo, Penelope Cruz and many other stars have tried it as it works wonders.
It’s a fun, low impact class that targets all aspects of physical fitness through movement in water. Aqua aerobics causes very little stress on the joints so it is suitable for everyone. You can work opposing muscles at the same time. This can be a great way to increase strength, flexibility and cardiovascular health.
Also known as water aerobics, it is a low impact workout which helps improve overall fitness. It includes cardiovascular, strength, flexibility and agility. It is performed not only with body weight but also with props like dumbells, noodles, push pulls, belts and jackets with weights. These props are exclusively designed for aqua exercises.
Quick Steps
1. Start with a warmup to increase the heart rate gradually by doing exercises like jogging, jumping jacks and hopping.
2. Then start doing little intense cardio like endurance kicks, power kicks and superman which helps in burning fat.
3. The next 25 minutes are for strength training using any one of the aqua equipments like dumbells, noodles, push pulls, belts and jackets with weights.
4. The last five minutes are used for stretching exercises.
If you are doing curls underwater, pulling up will work the biceps, while pushing down will build up the triceps. It is done mostly standing vertical in waist deep water and is a type of resistance training.
When exercising in water, you work against 12 times the resistance of air. Aqua aerobics helps contribute to muscle development, which translates into a higher metabolism and healthier body. Some of them combine high-intensity cardio exercises and plyometric power moves with jiggle-proofing resistance bands. Exercising in water makes you feel about 90 per cent lighter. When you jump or run in the water, your body does not experience the same impact that these moves cause on land.
It involves a lot of stretching, twisting, laughing and hooting and when you integrate it with aa aqua zumba dance class, it makes for a safe, challenging, water-based workout that’s perfect for cardio-conditioning and body-toning.
