Parents knock on Tamil Nadu CM door for medical help

A couple asked CM's help for their 4 children, all of them affected by muscular dystrophy
Chennai: A couple from the famous temple town Tiruvannamalai has approached the chief minister’s cell for an emergency medical help for their four children, all of them affected by muscular dystrophy. Their three daughters and a son, all aged below 13, are keen on going to school but are unable to do so as they often fall sick and require regular treatment which is not available at their place. They want CM to help.
The couple, Rajendran and Amudha, said that they were unable to go out for work as none of their children could move without their assistance.
“We carry our children on our shoulders to the school. Except our eldest daughter Abirami(15), we carry Aiswariya(12),Anandhi (9) and Rajeshkumar(8) to the school in Kelpattu village every day. We couldn’t carry Abirami as she is a grownup girl now,” said the couple.
Mother Amudha said that monthly pension of Rs 1, 000 is given by the government only to Abirami. “The applications for pension for other children were rejected. Officials told us that pension would be given to children who are confined to their house and not for ones who attend the school. But our children are interested in studies,” said Amudha.
She said that she would be thankful if the pension is sanctioned for the three children. “Our children are unable to enjoy their childhood like other normal children. We want to give them at least good food and education,” the couple told DC.
