BBMP gets itself a Soudha in Nagarbhavi

Revamped Chandragiri Park to have 25 CCTV cameras, solar lights

Bengaluru: Now, residents of Nagarbhavi, Maruti Mandir, Moodalapalya and Nayandahalli need not worry about running from pillar to post to get work done at the local BBMP office. The Chandra Layout sub-division office will soon be shifted to ‘Palike Soudha’, a multi-storey building in Nagarbhavi.

The Town Planning and Improvement Committee is all set to inaugurate ‘Palike Soudha’, a ward office, which will accommodate the offices of various departments.
Addressing reporters on Thursday, committee chairman K. Umesh Shetti said the three-storey building is constructed on a sprawling space of 3,000 square feet at a cost of Rs 6 crore.

“ ‘Palike Soudha’ is built on the lines of a software tech park with various departments like Revenue, Engineering, Health, Health Centre, Library, Bengaluru One Centre and a Police Island functioning under the same roof. Also, youths in Nagarbhavi can make use of the multi-gym located in the same building,” he said.

Meanwhile, the BBMP will also inaugurate Chandragiri Park in Chandra Layout on the occasion. According to Mr Shetti, the park area was a hub for illegal and anti-social activities, and to curb these activities the BBMP decided to develop a park there.

“Many boys used to smoke ganja and were involved in anti-social activities in the area which now stands as a park. By developing Chandragiri Park, we have revamped the look of the area. Senior citizens will now get more lung space,” he added.

The park has multiple facilities like: an outdoor gym, amphitheater, yoga centre and e-toilet. The highlight of the park, according to Mr Shetti, is the unique experience of watching the cultural activities unfold at the amphitheater.

“The seats are placed in such a way that visitors can sit in any corner of the park and watch the events taking place at the amphitheater,” he explained.

The park, developed at a whopping Rs 2.5 crore, will have 25 CCTV cameras for security purposes and operate only on solar lights. Palike Soudha and Chandragiri Park will be inaugurated by Union minister Ananth Kumar on Sunday.
