Telangana Intensive Household Survey scores a perfect 10

Scrutiny of the survey data will begin from the second week of September

Hyderabad: As many as 1.05 crore households were covered in the 10 districts of Telangana as part of the Intensive Household Survey on Tuesday.

Interestingly, the number of households in the state have increased by nearly 19 lakh when compared to the 2011 Census.

The Telangana Rashtra Samiti government, which took up this gigantic exercise of covering the entire state in a single day, is now aiming for a Guinness world record for achieving this feat with officials busy preparing the survey report to be submitted to the Guinness authorities.

The massive response that the survey received left officials surprised. Chief Minister, Mr K. Chandrasekhar, had already claimed the survey to be a “superhit” before leaving for Singapore on Tuesday.

Top officials of the government, who gathered survey data from all the districts on Wednesday, found that 97.82 per cent households had been covered on August 19, Tuesday, and the leftover 2.18 per cent households, mostly in Hyderabad and other big towns such as Warangal, Karimnagar etc. were completed on Wednesday.

In Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation limits alone, 19.43 lakh households were surveyed against the 16 lakh during the 2011 Census.

Similarly, in Ranga Reddy, 8,40,590 houses were surveyed against 7.41 lakh in 2011.

In other Telangana districts too, households increased significantly when compared to 2011 census figures.

The historic Telangana survey that covered 1.05 crore households saw a increase in the number of households in the state by nearly 19 lakhs since the 2001 census.
