Bhupinder Singh Hooda jeered, not to share dais with PM Modi

Bhupinder Singh Hooda will not participate in any such function of the PM in future

Chandigarh: While Prime Minister Narendra Modi chanted the development mantra on his first visit to poll bound Haryana after becoming PM, Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda faced considerable embarrassment as a hostile crowd booed him in Mr Modi’s presence. The angry Chief Minister said that he would boycott similar events in future with the PM.

Mr Modi, who had gone to Kaithal, Haryana, to lay the foundation stone of the Kaithal-Rajasthan border section of the national highway said, “Let’s take the mantra of development to every corner of the state.”

He said a nation that gives importance to infrastructure road, rail or air (ensures that) development increases, which he said was the main aspiration of the common man. “It will rid us of our difficulties,” he said.

As Mr Hooda rose to address the gathering before Mr Modi spoke, the crowd raised slogans against him and the state’s Congress government.
Mr Modi, who was greeted with continious cheering, urged the crowds to remain calm, but people were in no mood to listen and kept interrupting the CM’s speech, that got lost in the din. A fuming Mr Hooda later blamed the BJP for this, saying, “It (the BJP) had not done the right thing. I will not participate in any such function of the PM in future.”
