Telugu Titans thump Puneri Paltan in Pro Kabaddi League

Telugu Titans defeated Puneri Paltan at the Pro Kabaddi League at Port Rajiv Gandhi Indoor Stadium in Visakhapatnam on Monday.
Visakhapatnam: The Telugu Titans continued their upsurge with an emphatic 60-24 victory against the Puneri Paltan at the Pro Kabaddi League at Port Rajiv Gandhi Indoor Stadium in Visakhapatnam on Monday.
Much to the delight of the home crowd, who had turned up in huge numbers to support the Men in Yellow, youngster Deepak Niwas Hooda put up a great show to take his team to victory.
The defeat is the latest in a dismal season for the Pune side in the inaugural edition of the tournament. The Paltan’s stand-in captain Manoj Kumar gave his side a good start when he ousted Rahul Chaudhari in the fifth minute of the match. However, the visitors’ happiness was short-lived when Hooda and Sukesh Hegde clinched the first set for the Titans by the 10 minute.
Toothless in their attack, Pune were reduced to a two-man army within five minutes. Rahul Chaudhari completed the formality by defying Nitin More’s tackle and set up the team for their second set.
With Rahul Chaudhari, Sukesh Hegde and Deepak Niwas Hooda breaking the Puneri Paltan apart, the half-time score read 27-7.
Paltan’s woes continued when Nigeria’s Simon Kibura slipped on the mat and and played no further part in the action. Taking on a two-man army, Deepak made sure he left only Vikas on the Paltan’s side of the court picking up the Titans’ third set of the night and eventually took them to a win. Player of the match Deepak picked up 18 points from 14 raids.
