UPSC exams not for language skill test

UPSC has set up a high-level panel that recommended that the conduct of examinations

New Delhi: The UPSC has set up a high-level panel that recommended that the conduct of UPSC examinations be delinked from the inclusion of languages in the Eighth Schedule.

Besides English, the other languages demanding entry are Pahari (Himachali), Pali, Rajas-thani, Angika, Banjara, Bazika, Bhojpuri, Bhoti, Bhotia, Bundelkhandi, Chhattisgarhi, Dhatki, Garhwali, Gondi, Gujjar/Gujjari, Ho, Kachachhi, Kamtapuri, Karbi, Khasi, Kodava (Coorg), Kok Barak, Kumaoni, Kurak, Kurmali, Lepcha, Limbu, Mizo (Lushai), Magahi, Mundari, Nagpuri, Nicobarese, Sambalpuri/Kosali, Shaurseni (Prakrit), Siraiki, Tenyidi and Tulu.

Meanwhile the Union government on Monday declared that the candidates who have been allocated IAS, IFS and IPS among others and are also appearing for this year’s civil services preliminary examination cannot attend Foundation Course.
