The movie is slated to release on September 5
Mumbai: The Priyanka Chopra starrer Mary Kom biopic will hit theatres across India on September 5, but has been banned in the state on Manipur according to reports.
The locals are angered by the fact that Mary’s role is portrayed by Priyanka Chopra and not a local actress. Though the Olympic bronze medallist hopes this resentment will die out before the film’s big release in September.
She was quoted saying, “We are trying very hard for this to happen, but the movies association and underground groups should allow it. It looks difficult but we will speak to the government about the same."
Will the movie get a release in Mary’s hometown Manipur?
