27 YSR Congress MLAs skip meet, rumours of defection float

Out of 66 MLAs, only 39 attended the meeting on Sunday
Hyderabad: At least 27 MLAs skipped the YSRC legislature party meeting on Sunday, ahead of the Budget Session, of the AP Assembly.
While a few MLAs informed the party leadership about the inconvenience in travelling and personal obligations, several of them who are reportedly waiting to defect to the TD abstained without informing the party leader, Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy.
The meeting was convened to discuss the strategies for the Budget Session. Out of 66 MLAs, only 39 attended the meeting on Sunday, at the Lotus Pond camp office, in the city. The meeting was supposed to start at 10 am, but began at 12 noon as the leadership waited for the MLAs.
Sources said Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy expressed anger over the MLAs coming late or not turning up at all. Even party whip Amarnath Reddy, from Palamaner in Chittoor district, kept away.
Among those who did not attend the meeting were film actor Roja Selvamani, Kodali Nani of Gudivada, Jaleel Khan of Vijayawada, Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy, Meka Pratapa Appa Rao. A party source said most MLAs are staying with the party fearing the anti-defection law.
