Now you can have a conversation with Bing

Search engine Bing just got a bit smarter and can hold conversations with the user

Bing, Microsoft’s own search engine, just received a major improvement. Bing can now have a conversation with people who are searching for information online.

According to a report on Softpedia, the new feature in Bing will bring it closer to Cortana, the intelligent voice search on the Windows Phone platform.

The new feature introduced, helps the user to carry forward a conversation with the search engine related to the previous search. For instance, if you search for ‘who is the president of the United States’ and Bing will give you the answer. You can then take the conversation ahead and ask other questions related to the previous search. For instance, you can move on to ask ‘who his wife is’ or ‘how tall is he’. Bing maintains the context and will keep the conversation moving forward.

The report also states that the new feature is only available with text inputs in the search box and in future Microsoft will be implementing voice commands with the help of Cortana.

Presently, Cortana can also perform voice to text searches using Bing, on the Windows Phone. But you cannot have conversations via Cortana as yet. Cortana is expected to arrive on desktop in future, with a possibility of it being included in Windows 9.

Presently, the new feature in Bing is only available in the US and Microsoft will be rolling out the new Bing to other countries soon. When Bing and Cortana mix together in future, Talking to your desktop, laptop or tablet will not be far.
