Admission for MBBS to start soon in Telangana

Medical counselling gets completed easily owing to fewer number of seats

Hyderabad: While the curtains have come down on the controversy in counselling of engineering aspirants in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, counselling of medical undergraduate seats is yet to begin.

T. Ravi Raju, the Vice-Chancellor of the NTR University of Health Sciences, met Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu here on Thursday.

Sources indicate that the notification for counselling is likely to be issued on August 17 or August 18 and counselling will be completed the following week.

Classes for MBBS courses in the two states are also to start from September 1.

Unlike engineering counselling, medical counselling can be completed quickly owing to fewer seats in the two states.

However, the medical fee hike issue is yet to be resolved with colleges asking for changes in the management quota percentage to balance the moratorium on fee hike for this year.

A final decision is yet to be taken. The counselling can begin only after a decision is taken.

Private medical college managements are yet to meet AP health minister Kamineni Srinivas formally over the issue.

Telangana health department officials said that they have asked the NTRUHS to initiate the counselling.
