Telangana Technology colleges not following AICTE norms to lose affiliation

Hyderabad: The Telangana government wants to cancel affiliations of engineering colleges that are violating norms prescribed by the All India Council of Technical Education. However, with Eamcet counselling already underway, the move might be postponed to next year.
Inspections of colleges are underway, and a final list of affiliated colleges will be submitted soon.
Prof. T. Papi Reddy, chairman, Telangana State Council of Higher Education, said, “The government is very clear on this issue and any college that is violating AICTE norms will have to be closed down.” “This year, it might not be possible but we will continue inspections. Students studying in erring colleges will be shifted to the nearest colleges that are in compliance with AICTE norms,” Prof. Reddy added.
Officials, said that show-cause notices could be issued this year and the colleges would be allowed to set things right by next year.
