BJP criticising CM K Chandrasekhar Rao for poll mileage: TRS

BJP leaders have been critical of TRS govt after lathicharge on agitating farmers

Hyderabad: The Telangana Rashtra Samiti criticised the BJP saying it was trying to gain political mileage in the ensuing by-elections to Medak Lok Sabha seat by highlighting the power problem to the agriculture sector and provoking farmers.

Bypoll is necessitated in the Medak parliamentary seat following the resignation by Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, who won both Medak LS and Gajwel Assembly seats, but retained the latter.

“The BJP is indulging in mudslinging on the TRS for political gain in the Medak bye polls. The CM in the run up to elections did not hide the fact that the new state would face power problems for at least three years. Yet the BJP is trying to make political capital out of the issue and provoking farmers,” TRS MLA Guvvala Balaraju said.

The TRS also accused Telangana BJP president G. Kishan Reddy of fomenting communal tension with provocative statements on hoisting of the national flag on the historic Golconda Fort.

“What is wrong in hoisting the national flag at the Golconda Fort? The fort is a cultural icon of Telangana and the decision taken by CM was right,” he added.

After the CM launched a broadside on Telangana BJP president, G. Kishan Reddy, over renaming of the agricultural university, the TRS leaders taking a cue launched a scathing attack on the BJP president.

The BJP leaders too have been critical of the TRS government, especially for the lathicharge on agitating farmers in Medak over erratic power supply to the farm sector. The BJP went a step further and brought the injured farmers and presented them before the media, which has irked the TRS leadership.
