chief secretary said in a statement that a section of media had given baseless reports

Thiruvananthapuram: State police chief K.S. Balasubramanian has urged chief minister Oommen Chandy to initiate action against those who spread a wrong report that he had conducted foreign trip violating norms. Also, chief secretary E.K. Bharat Bhushan denied the reports that he had initiated steps to seek an explanation from the state police chief.

In a letter sent to the chief minister on Friday, the police chief said that he had gone to Bulgaria to attend the international police executive symposium after taking casual leave and that the matter was informed to all concerned, including the home minister, in advance. He alleged that some officials with vested interests had spread a wrong report about him to a section of media to tarnish his image. “The information on a file was leaked out even before the file reached the home minister. This shall be considered seriously and appropriate action initiated against the official concerned,” he urged in the letter.

Meanwhile, the chief secretary said in a statement said that a section of media had given baseless reports by wrongly interpreting the routine procedures. “There are no differences between me and the state police chief on any matter. Certain media reports on these lines were unfortunate,” he said.
