YSR Congress objects to AP Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu talk

Naidu should serve people without any prejudice or favour, says Padma
Hyderabad: Criticising Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s address in the district collectors’ conference in Vijayawada, the main opposition party YSR Congress said on Thursday that he talked like the Telugu Desam president rather than as CM of the state.
Addressing a press conference, party official spokesperson Vasireddy Padma accused the CM of encouraging the official machinery to extend help to TD cadre, which is absurd and highly objectionable.
“Time and again Chandrababu Naidu has strongly hinted to the district administration to favour TD cadre in implementing welfare schemes and he was speaking like the president of TD and not as CM. He asked district officials to go to people and that the TD cadre should be involved in the development process. This shows his shallow attitude,” she said.
Ms Padma said the CM being the constitutional functionary occupying the highest post in the state should serve the people without any prejudice or favour. He has broken the oath with such brazen talk at the officers meet.
She said that late Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy as CM, implemented the schemes above the party lines and every person, irrespective of party affiliation, had benefited from the welfare schemes.
“The spirit of welfare activity was lost with Naidu taking sides at the collectors’ conference by openly suggesting that they have to win seats next time and this should be kept in mind, while implementing welfare schemes,” she said.
The state has already seen gross misuse of the official machinery during the Mayor and ZPTC Chairperson elections and such undemocratic statements would encourage discrimination at all levels, which is not good for the administration, she said.
His speech was like rubbing the TD agenda on the officials, tainting the decorum of governance. It is not political governance but the administration is run on a set or norms, which cannot be overlooked and if such unsavoury message comes from the top, it will be in bad taste. It turns worse, when the message percolates to lower rungs, she added.
