Telangana industry in for power shocks

Telangana plans more cuts to industry for farmers
Hyderabad: The Telangana government has promised to ensure regular power supply to the farm sector even at the cost of imposing two days of power cuts in a week to the industry sector.
Irrigation minister T. Harish Rao gave this assurance during his whirlwind tour of Mahbubnagar district on Tuesday to attend local programmes including setting the foundation stone for a Rs 48-crore road in Alampur.
“If needed, we will impose power cuts to industries for two days in a week and ensure power supply to the farm sector in view of Kharif operations. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu is to be blamed for the present power cuts. We will overcome power shortages in two years,” the minister said. Mr Harish Rao said Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao was taking necessary measures to ensure additional 5,000 MW of power besides purchasing power from neighbouring states to overcome the present crisis at a cost of Rs 12 per unit.
Assuring to complete some of the pending projects in Mahbubnagar district including Kalwakurthy, Bheema, Nettampadu, Koilsagar, RDS modernisation among others, Mr Harish Rao said the government would ensure irrigation facilities in five lakh acres in Mahbubnagar district by the next Kharif season.
