LNG storage unit in Andhra Pradesh to meet Hyderabad gas demand

Krishnapatnam Port in Nellore will meet the growing gas demand from Hyderabad
Hyderabad: The new Rs 1,000-crore LNG floating storage unit (FSU) that will come up at Krishnapatnam Port in Nellore will meet the growing gas demand from city gas distribution networks, power projects, gas based industries and fertiliser manufacturing units in three states including south Andhra Pradesh.
The FSU will help import gas from other countries as there is huge shortage of gas production in the country.
The 5 MMPTA (Million Metric Tonnes Per Annum) Greenfield Floating Storage Unit and handling facility is being taken up by Hyderabad- based LNG Bharat Limited, a unit of Rajahmundry based KRPEL that operates five on-shore oil and gas fields in the Krishna Godavari basin.
The project has a maximum capacity of 10 MMPTA, to be upgraded in the second phase. It will be set up on 40 acres land in the Krishnapatnam port area. In the first phase, raw material LNG will be imported and transported to customers directly.
