Tamil film industry rallies against Sri Lanka

Protesters demand closure of Lanka missions in New Delhi, Chennai

Chennai: Members of various bodies of the Tamil film industry Monday staged a protest in front of the Sri Lankan deputy high commissioner’s office in Chennai over the derogatory article against Chief Minister Jayalalithaa that was posted on the Sri Lankan defence ministry website.

Actors, including Sarath Kumar, Vijay, Suriya, Sivakumar, Vagai Chandrashekar and Parthibhan filmmakers like AR Murugadoss, S.J. Suryah, Vikraman, Thaanu, Kayar and others held placards at the protest staged in Nungambakkam where the Sri Lankan deputy high commissioner’s office is located.

The protesters demanded the closure of Lankan missions in Delhi and Chennai. Shootings for some of the Tamil films in the city were cancelled for the day in support to the protest.
