No threat of flood in Kosi at present

More than 70,000 people, have been evacuated to safety camps

New Delhi: The Centre on Monday said that there is no rise in the water level of the river Kosi so far and that there is no imminent danger but that all precautionary measures have been taken to deal with any eventuality.

More than 70,000 people, who may be affected in case of floods in Kosi, have been evacuated to safety camps.

The Indian Air Force (IAF) flew its C-130 J Super Hercules transport aircraft with geological experts to Kathm-andu on Saturday to help the Nepalese authorities in its crisis.

The National Crisis Management Commit-tee, headed by cabinet secretary Ajit Seth, met on Monday afternoon to review the situation of the impending rise in water level in the Kosi due to a landslide and blockade upstream in Nepal.

“There appears to be no imminent danger at present as the flow of the river Kosi is steady and there is no rise in the water level,” a home ministry spokesperson said on Monday.
