Hyderabad: Top Maoist leader Chambala Ravinder, who headed their mobile military school, surrendered to the police on Friday.
Ravinder, known for his military training, was carrying a reward of Rs 20 lakh on his head. His wife V. Adimi alias Devi alias Ranitha, who commanded a reward of Rs 5 lakh also surrendered. Ravinder supervised the Maoists’ military operations.
Telangana DGP Anurag Sharma said that there are 166 Maoist cadres hailing from Telangana who are still underground. “We appeal to them to join the mainstream. They can directly approach the police, political leaders, press, relatives, friends etc if they want to surrender. They will be rehabilitated,” said Mr Sharma.

He was a member of the Dandakaranya special zonal committee, military commission and in-charge of MoMiS (Mobile Military School). He was also in-charge of the second battalion of Dandakaranya (DK) and the communication wing of DK.
Ravinder began his Maoist career in the Basaguda dalam of Bastar. In 1995, he became section commander of the first Maoist platoon in DK.
