Dharna to press for Andhra Pradesh capital in Rayalaseema

Over 1,000 people are slated to protest at the Dharna Chowk on August 2

Hyderabad: Over 1,000 people are slated to protest at the Dharna Chowk on August 2, demanding resurrection of the 1937 Sribhagh Pact.

The Rayalaseema Rajadhani Sadhana Samithi cautioned Chief Minister Naidu that if a separate statehood movement for Rayalaseema evolves, it might spoil the CM’s plans for a successful ‘Brand Andhra Pradesh.’ The Samithi demanded a discussion on the issue at the budget session beginning August 13.

The Samithi also asked the Sivaramakrishna Committee to hold an all party meeting before submitting their report on the new capital.

The Sribhagh Pact of 1937 called for the capital to be located in Rayalaseema and High Court in Guntur.

But, this is not an overall development, it is just an epicentric growth, the Samithi added.
