Upstream dams release water to parched Telangana dams

Major reservoirs are filling up due to fresh spells of rain in Karnataka

Hyderabad: Major reservoirs are filling up due to fresh spells of rain in Karnataka. Reservoirs on the Krishna river were half-empty due to the rainfall deficit in catchment areas upstream in Karnataka. With the Alamatti and and Narayanapur dams in Karnataka releasing water, about 1.05 lakh cusecs of water reached the Jurala reservoir by Wednesday evening (Inflow into the Jurala project was only about 400 cusecs till Tuesday). As a result of this, the downstream Srisailam reservoir will also receive water. Srisailam had not received any inflows till Wednesday and gross storage in the reservoir was almost three times lower than last year.
