Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa sues Stalin for libel

Petition would come up for hearing before principal sessions judge N. Authinathan shortly

Chennai: Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa has filed a defamation case against DMK treasurer and MLA, M.K. Stalin for his alleged defamatory remarks against her during a recent press meet.

On behalf of the Chief Minister, city public prosecutor, M.L. Jegan filed the defamation petition before the principal sessions court on Wednesday.

In the petition, Jegan submitted that while coming out from the Assembly on July 22, Stalin addressed mediapersons where he alleged said the Chief Minister did not like the presence of DMK MLAs in the Assembly. Hence, all DMK Legislators were evicted from the Assembly.

Jegan stated that Stalin made the statement to tarnish the image of the Chief Minister and that she had not taken part in the Assembly on July 22. Stalin made the remarks deliberately which were derogatory and defamatory per se.

The petition would come up for hearing before principal sessions judge N. Authinathan shortly.
