Bengaluru: A 13-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her neighbour in her house in Kumaraswamy Layout on Tuesday. The accused has been identified as Dahanakoti (53), who works as a helper at Om Shakthi Temple.
Dahanakoti was a close friend of the complainant’s family. On Tuesday night, he went to the victim’s house and approached the victim who was sitting in the living area alone. The victim’s two sisters were studying in the room. The victim’s parents were not present at home when the incident happened, the police said.
The victim complained that the accused sat next to her and started misbehaving with her by touching her in an inappropriate manner. The victim cried for help and her sisters came running out of the room. Dahanakoti, who was scared of getting caught, fled from the house. He was arrested later, the police said.
The victim narrated the incident to her parents after which a complaint was lodged against Dahanakoti. Dahanakoti is booked under IPC sections 376 (rape) and 354 (assault or criminal force with intent to outrage modesty of woman) by the Kumarswamy Layout police station.
